Junior Classes
Our Junior program has a series of age/developmental related levels,
- Sheep - age 5-8 and 8 -11
- Panda - age 6-9 and 10+
- Giraffe – age >10 -13
- Zebra – age >14, committed to attain a higher level of skill with possible competitive aspirations
- Lion - age > 11 wanting to train, improve their skill and prepare for tournaments
- Hippo – a competitive team whose members strive to achieve their personal best (skill assessment necessary)
Sheep – Thurs. 6:00 – 7:00 /Sat. 1:30 – 3:00 / Sun. 4:00 -5:00, under 8 yrs
Students will have instruction on fundamental athletic skills as a foundation for badminton skills and movements.
- Correct and effective methods of hitting the shuttle
- Body position and movement basics
- Hand/eye coordination
- Basic rules and scoring
- Having fun with friends, enjoying learning through a variety of complimentary activities to prepare them for badminton skill acquisition and phsical literacy for a sport.

An integral segment to the program is court etiquette and sportsmanship
Panda – Sunday 3:00 -4:30 for ages 7-9 / Wednesday 6:30-8:00 ages 10-12
Students will have more intensive instruction on badminton technique and movement with a focus on future competitive badminton.
- Correct and effective methods of hitting the shuttle
- Body position and movement basics to develop footwork patterns and fitness
- Hand/eye coordination through mirror sequencing and shuttle repetition
- Basic game rules and scoring
Giraffe 10-13 (Tuesday 6:00 – 7:30, Saturday 3:00-4:30, Sunday 2:30 – 4:00 )
Players will further develop basic and intermediate badminton skills while increasing their cardiovascular and strength.
- Overhead shot – clears, drops, and smashes and lifts, smash returns and net drops.

- Game tactics
- Initiation to training for badminton, fitness and fun.
- Court etiquette and sportsmanship
- a class for school players progressing to competition.
- work on skills, footwork,and mental focus for tournament play.
- game situational play and strategy
- physical conditioning through movements skills, plyometrics and body weight exercises.
Lion/Hippo ( Saturdays 1:30 – 3:30)
- a class for junior players progressing to competition.
- work on skills, footwork, mental focus and relaxation for tournament play.
- game situational play emphasizing anticipation
- physical conditioning will also be a focus of the 2 hour sessions.
Hippo (Thursday 6:00-7:30) By Invitation
- a class for advanced junior competitive plaers
- work on advanced skills, footwork,and mental preparation for tournament play.
- game situational play and anticipation
- physical conditioning will also be part of development.
Adult Classes
At SBC we offer… Please see classes
Beginner – players just starting or have some experience, but want to enhance their skills.
Intermediate – players that can execute basic shots but need consistency, more fitness, movement skills and a better backhand! Practice, practice practice. and learn new ways to execute those “panic shots”.Yes, all is attainable.
Singles - take a little off your waist, improve your cardiovascular fitness, skill and footwork. This class will have you staying lean and mean as you work on all aspects of your game. Soon doubles will feel like a walk in the park!
Advanced – For the player that has spurts of genius, mediocrity, and humbling. There is always room for improvement whether it be better accuracy, faster feet, more endurance, mental preparation, nutrition or relaxation to bring your out your best game. We can keep improving with focused effort.
Beginner Class (Sat 11:00-12:00)
Develop more weapons for your game.

Team Dragon SBC Advanced Team training Wed – 8:00-10:00 and Sun – 1:00-3:00 By invitation.
Athletes interested in honing their skills for more competitive play or tournaments. They have advanced skills and a desire to play local to national tournaments. (assessment necessary)
- Refinement of shot accuracy, consistency and development of advanced shots.
- Game tactics and strategy
- Match preparation, relaxation techniques and focus strategies.
- Physical training to improve movement control, speed and endurance.
